Wendt Commons Library2016-2019
  • Wendt Commons Library merged with GLS in July 2016.
  • Collections reduced at Wendt and moved primarily to the Middleton Shelving Facility in 2016. Remaining active collections will be relocated to Steenbock Library and inactive collections moved to a shelving facility.
  • Space repurposed to create the Grainger Design Innovation Lab, as well as new instructional, tutoring, and study space.
  • Alignment of engineering librarians’ work with the Science & Engineering Libraries (SEL).
  • Wisconsin Tech Search relocated to Memorial Library in August 2017.

Chemistry LibraryDecember 2016 - 2019
  • Space will be transformed into the Chemistry Information Commons in 2019, which will include reference and consultation space for the Chemistry Librarian.
  • Library space closed December 2016.

  • Office Delivery system piloted: service allows Chemistry faculty and staff to have items delivered to office mailboxes.

  • Collaboration with Wisconsin School of Business to create the new Business Learning Commons on three levels of Grainger Hall.
  • Collections footprint reduced to allow for greater study, learning, and collaboration space.

  • Collections consolidated into Verona Shelving Facility, as well as Kohler Art Library and Special Collections.
  • Current reading room redesigned into a gallery supporting academic program needs.
  • Development of new liaison support model for academic departments. Design Studies liaison support will shift to Kohler Art Library in 2018.

  • During the first phase, the department plans to repurpose space as an updated and more visible Cartography Lab and a flexible meeting space. Phase 2 will include a large, adaptable digital teaching and learning space.
  • Collections will be consolidated to enhance relevant collections at several libraries across campus. Inactive material will be relocated to storage.
  • Reserve services relocated to College Library.
