Summer 2021 Updates at Kohler Art Library

Hours and Access

We are open MondayFriday, 1:00 – 4:00pm. Starting Monday, June 14th, no appointment is needed.

  • Come to the library to study, use the collection, or use printing and scanning services.
  • All visitors, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask. For more information see our Face Coverings in the Libraries page.
  • Special collection items may be requested for viewing during our open hours. These items include material from the Artists’ Book Collection and any of our restricted access areas.
  • Continue to maintain physical distancing of six feet apart.

Pickup by Appointment

  • You can also put items from our collection on hold in the catalog and schedule an appointment to pick them up at the Kohler, Memorial or Steenbock Library. Anyone with a borrowing card may use Pickup by Appointment.

How to Get Here

  • Bike: There is ample bike parking outside the Elvehjem Building and around campus.
  • Drive: Public parking is available at the City of Madison State Street campus ramp (entrances on Lake Street and Frances Street) and in the University Square parking ramp, entrance on Lake Street. See the Downtown Madison parking webpage for more information.
  • Bus: East-bound City of Madison buses stop at the corner of Johnson and Park Streets, one block to the south of the museum. West-bound buses stop on University Avenue at University and Lake. The UW–Madison campus bus stops on Park Street just north of University Avenue. Bus schedules can be found at City of Madison Metro Transit.
