Library by Appointment

See all Library by Appointment services on one page, along with all libraries and hours.

Computer Lab • Make an appointment to use a designated computer in a library computer lab, including access to printing and scanners.

In-Person Collection Access • Make a library appointment at Art, Business, College, Memorial, Music, and Steenbock to examine materials shelved in library stacks. You can check out items from circulating collections.

In-Person Access to UW Archives and Special Collections Reading Rooms • Make an appointment to examine materials shelved in their reading rooms. All materials are in-library use only.

Pickup by Appointment • Items from AMP, Art, Business, College, Ebling, Geology, iSchool, Journalism, Law, MERIT, Memorial, Middleton Shelving Facility, Music, Science Libraries Shelving Facility, Social Work, Steenbock, Verona Shelving Facility, Water, and Wisconsin Historical Society can be put on hold, and then an appointment can be made to pick up the materials at Memorial Library or Steenbock Library.

One-Person Study Rooms • Individual study rooms available for reservation at Business, College, Memorial, and Steenbock Libraries. Rooms are set up to support one person working alone.

Print / Scan • Make an appointment for a brief visit to the library for the primary purpose of black & white printing, scanning, or photocopying materials.

Study Space • Reserve a seat in a shared library space that has been set up for individual study and in accordance with campus physical distance guidelines.

Ask a Librarian

Our library staff are available to provide research support or answer questions by text, chat, and email. Click on the Ask button at the top of any library web page, or go to our help page.

Course Support for Instructors

Librarians can support your teaching in all modalities. These services includes online library instruction options, customized research guides, and embedded services in Canvas. Expertise and support for electronic curricular content and course reserves is also available.

Digitize on Request

If you only need some chapters or specific pages from a book, you can place a request using our Interlibrary Loan service. Log in to your account, choose the option to Request an Article, and fill out the form with the book chapter’s information as best you can.

Equipment Checkout

Laptops, video cameras, and other AV equipment are available for checkout with a two week loan period.
