About Our Collections

TW000401rWith 500,000+ items, the Mills Music Library offers an exceptional collection of scores, books, media, journals, sheet music, rare and archival materials.  Online resources include streaming audio and video, article databases and ebooks, and our own Mills Music Library Digital Collections.

The collections span many types of music, cultures, languages and formats:

  • 90,000 scores and parts
  • 200,000 media, including CDs, vinyl LPs, DVDs & 78 rpm discs
  • Western art music
  • American vernacular music
  • Music of other countries, such as scores, books & media published in Latin America, India, Indonesia and Scandinavia
  • Sheet music, including pre-1900 U.S. publications

Much of the print and media collection may be checked out.  Materials from our Special Collections and the Wisconsin Music Archives may be used within the Music Library.  Please email or call (608) 263-1884 with questions on using materials or requesting copies.
