With over 40 vibrant UW—Madison campus libraries, it can be hard to keep track of them all. That’s why we’re excited to announce the launch of the latest digital collection brought to you by Library Communications and UWDC… The University of Wisconsin—Madison Libraries Image Collection!

The images in the collection feature the buildings and spaces that make up the campus library system. Also included are images of library staff, service areas, exhibits, and special events—there’s always something going on at the Libraries!

The images were recorded by a variety of photographers and some were used in various publications over the years. While of course not a comprehensive collection, the UW—Madison Libraries Image Collection aims to bring these once scattered images together to make them more accessible and to document the history of campus library spaces as they grow and change.

To find the collection, visit the UWDC website at https://uwdc.library.wisc.edu// and click on “Digital Collections.” Click on The University of Wisconsin Collection; then select University of Wisconsin-Madison. You’ll find a link to the University of Wisconsin—Madison Libraries Image Collection beneath “Materials in the Collection.” Or get directly to the collection by going to http://digital.library.wisc.edu/1711.dl/UW.LibraryImages.

Many thanks to Melissa McLimans, Cat Phan, and the entire UWDC team for bringing this project to life!

Don’t see your favorite library? More images will be added each month. If you have pictures of library spaces, people, or events, we want to know about it! Email the photo including photographer, date, and any additional information to kdombrowsky@library.wisc.edu.
