UW System Search

This tutorial will help you request items from other UW System schools for delivery and pickup at a UW-Madison library of your choice.

Requesting Items from other UW System Schools

• Requests usually take 2-4 business days to be filled.
• To request an item:
  1. Starting from the UW-Madison Libraries’ homepage, choose “Catalog” from the drop-down menu.
  2. Select “Advanced Search” in the left-hand corner under the Catalog search box.
  3. On the “Advanced Catalog Search” page, you will search the UW System by default. You do not need to select a specific location.
  4. Search for the item that you would like to find
  5. When you find  the item you are looking for, select the title to go to the item page. Select  the “Request for Pickup” link in the upper-right corner to request a copy.
     • You may be prompted to sign in with your NetID or Library Card
     • Note: If the item is available at UW-Madison, you may not see an option to request from UW System
     • Note: if the item is not available at UW-Madison or a UW System school, you may request through Interlibrary Loan. Select “Request for Pickup” link in the next page. Then, in the next page, select “Submit Request” button under the form.
  6. Select a Pickup Location from the drop-down menu, and select  “Request for Pickup.”
