In short, the answer is no. The Madison LGBTQ+ Archive is housed in the same physical location as all the University Archives collections, and is administered by staff in University Archives and Records Management.

Yes! University Archives is open to everyone during business hours, Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. You can learn more about visiting us by consulting the Visiting the Archives page.

For UW-Madison students: The Madison LGBTQ+ Archive hires student staff to process collections, perform oral history work, and occasionally help with outreach/programming work. Additionally, we occasionally host iSchool practicum students. Check the UW student job board periodically for position postings. 

At this time, we do have any volunteer opportunities.

Our online collections can be found in the UW Digital Collections database. Few LGBTQ+ collection materials are available digitally at this time. Patrons can search collections that are organized and described via the library catalog or Archival Resources in Wisconsin: Descriptive Finding Aids.
