Course Reserves

Students: Find Your Reserves

  • Print reserve readings can generally be checked out at the Circulation Desk for two hours. The list of physical items on reserve for your class will be found in the appropriate Course Reading List.
  • Most electronic reserve readings can be accessed in your course Canvas page. Some classes offer both electronic and print readings, and print reserves may be kept at different libraries.
  • If you have any questions, please contact the library. We are happy to help. Please send questions or comments to Social Work Library Staff or call (608) 263-3840.

Faculty and Instructors: Guidelines for Submitting Reserves

The Social Work Library provides print reserves services for faculty, instructors, TAs, and other instructional staff who teach classes in the School of Social Work and other allied disciplines.

Physical Reserves: books, DVDs, and other materials

  1. Library Books: Prior to the start of each semester library staff will request a list of your textbooks (if any) and will automatically place items on reserve for your class if they are already owned. Please also submit an electronic copy of your course syllabus to the School of Social Work for the online directory. If the campus libraries do not own the books now, we may be able to purchase new copies, but the budget is limited.
  2. Instructor’s Books: If you would like to place a personal item on reserve for the semester, please let us know. (NOTE: all reserves are kept safely behind the circulation desk).
  3. Books on reserve are normally given a 2-hour loan period, but 3-day or 7-day reserve loan periods are also possible if that would work better for your class.

Please send questions or comments to Social Work Library Staff or call (608) 263-3840 if you need more information regarding reserves services.
