“It’s almost as if the King of Siam — which is now called Thailand — had a premonition that Thailand would have a close relationship with UW-Madison back in 1893, a time when no formal or informal relations existed. The King of Siam sent a gift of 39 volumes of the Buddhist Canons to UW-Madison.”
