“On the Stage and in the Groove”: a Yiddish Theater Sound Salon, happens on Wednesday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Library, Room 126. This event is free and open to the public.

Join Mayrent Institute Director Henry Sapoznik for a sonic tour of the Yiddish stage through rare 78-rpm records from the Mayrent Collection. Sapoznik will discuss long forgotten comics, actors, singers, and composers whose work demonstrates the dynamic muscularity of this Jewish art movement in its prime and its powerful influence on American theater, radio, and screen.

This event is co-sponsored by Mills Music Library and the Mayrent Institute for Yiddish Culture of the Center for Jewish Studies.
