Remembering The Society of American Fakirs, 1891-1914

This exhibit brings together seven parody art exhibition catalogs from the Society of American Fakirs, a group of students from the Art Students League that organized annual art spoof shows. Along with an original Fakir painting, show advertisements and related ephemera also help showcase the distinct early 20th century humor of the Art Students League, offering a rare window into the silly side of art.

KAL 50 Poster Exhibit

A selection of 50th-anniversary posters designed for the Kohler Art Library by Professor Henrique Nardi’s Basic Graphic Design class. Using different collecting areas of the library as their inspiration, students created a bold range of posters celebrating 50 years of art library research. Eight of these posters will be released as commemorative keepsakes, available throughout 2020 at the Kohler Art Library.

Interrogating Form and Culture: Activism, Equality in the Artists’ Book

This exhibit brings together twelve artists’ books that confront issues of social justice, equity, and inclusion within our globalized world. Through a variety of approaches and forms, the activist artists in this show address the challenges surrounding marginalized communities. This show is curated by graduate students from LIS 855: Art Librarianship, Spring 2020.
