• Current Periodicals and Newspapers – (240): Materials shelved alphabetically by title; items may not circulate.
• Cutter: materials cataloged in an earlier classification system; call numbers will look a bit different from most call numbers. Items may circulate.
• East European Studies Collection – (212): materials located in Petrovich Reading Room. Items do not circulate.
• Grants Information Collection – (262): Items do not circulate.
• Greek and Latin Reading Room – (424): Items do not circulate. Room may be closed for course instruction; consult schedule posted on door.
• Mills Music Library – (B162): a separate library but located in basement of the Memorial Library building. All “M” call numbers are housed here. Circulation policies vary.
• New Book Shelf (in hallway between 2nd floor elevator lobby and west corridor): A random selection of newly acquired books which may circulate.
• Theses and Dissertations – (2M North and Verona Shelving Facility): Theses are not classed by subject, rather they are in alphabetical order by author in the following groups:
  • AWB = Phds 1964 to present
  • AWO = Masters 1964 to present
  • PhDs circulate and may be checked out; Masters do not circulate, but may be used in the library.
  • Only a selection of theses and dissertations are kept at Memorial Library. The remainder are at the Verona Shelving Facility and may be requested for use:
    • UW-Madison affiliates and community card holders should request through the Library Catalog.
    • Non-UW-Madison affiliates who are able to visit Memorial Library may place requests for theses and dissertations 3 business days prior to their planned visit.
      • Those unable to visit in person should refer your local library’s interlibrary loan staff to UW-Madison General Library System Interlibrary Loan Lending and Photocopying.
      • If you have no library or information service, consult our services for non-affiliated users.
