Become a Friend

You automatically become a  Friends of the Libraries when  you make an annual donation, or give a gift, to the UW-Madison Libraries at a $40 level and above. You can even donate online by following this link.  See below for levels and benefits.

  • $40–$75 Supporter
    Invitations to Friends and prospect events
    • Invitation to the Friends Annual Dinner, (must pay for their meal/seat)
    • Individual borrowing privileges to campus libraries
    • Library’s magazine
  • $75–$249 Contributor
    All of the above benefits plus:
    • Household Borrowing privileges to campus libraries (two adults)
  • $250–$499 Ambassador
    All of the above benefits plus:
    • Annual keepsake from Silver Buckle Press
    • A one-year gift membership for a friend or relative
  • $500–$999 Benefactor
    All of the above benefits plus:
    • Annual Vice Provost Luncheon
    • Circle Event invitation: Annual Reception for Memorial Library Plaque Unveiling
  • $15 Student Member
    • Individual Friends Membership benefits
    • Free admission to the Wednesday preview night of the semiannual book sales

Library Borrowing Card
Friends who donate $40 or more each year are entitled to a UW-Madison Libraries Borrowing Card. This provides access to all campus libraries, in-person online database access, and borrowing privileges. To pick up your card stop by the front desk at Memorial Library with a valid ID.

  • Or join online with a major credit card through the University of Wisconsin Foundation. Be sure to indicate “libraries” under area of greatest need and add a note restricting the gift to “Friends of the UW-Madison Library.”
