Libraries Offer Extra Hours and Activities for Finals

Finals are stressful, but the UW-Madison Libraries know how to help you study, relax, and keep you studying strong.
Extended Hours

Some of our extra hours during finals include:
- Business Learning Commons have added hours most days from 8 a.m. to midnight from Monday April 28 through Wednesday May 7.
- College Library is open 24/7 through 10 p.m. Friday May 9. (Note that a valid UW-Madison ID is required to enter or use College Library between midnight and 6:00 a.m.)
- Memorial Library will be expanding hours to be open every day from 8:30 a.m. to midnight from Friday May 2 through Thursday May 8.
- Steenbock also has extra hours on finals weekend, extending their hours to 9 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of finals.

Special Activities
Tuesday 4/29

- Test Anxiety and DIY Wellness Kit at College Library, 3 – 5 p.m.
At the Test Anxiety workshop, you will develop skills for studying effectively, managing anxiety, and learn strategies for approaching exams to boost your performance. You will also go home with your own DIY wellness kit to help manage stress/anxiety during exams..
Thursday 5/1
- Free (plain) coffee, tea or hot chocolate at College Library, 7 – 11 p.m.
Open Book Café and the Wisconsin Union provide free hot beverages for students getting a head-start on Study Day.
Saturday 5/3
- Study Day at Steenbock Library, 12:30 – 5 p.m.
Show up for yourself on Study Day and get a treat! Serving free lemonade, coffee, cupcakes – with vegan options, and chocolate-covered strawberries. Plus get study giveaways like stickers, calm strips, pencils, notecards and mini animal stress squishies.

Monday 5/5
- Dogs on Call at College Library, 3 – 5 p.m.
Stop by for a little canine therapy at Dogs on Call. Canines and their handlers will be stationed around the first floor of the library for those in need of a puppy cuddle.
Friday 5/2 – Friday 5/9
- Scavenger Hunt at Wisconsin Historical Society, drop in any time
Games of memory and a Historical Society scavenger hunt for students to conquer. The completed scavenger hunt sheet can be turned in at the library reference desk as an entry in a raffle to win entry for two to one of our historic sites! Raffle drawing will be end-of-business on May 9th
