Supporting the Friends and the Libraries on #GivingTuesday

November 16, 2021

This year created unique challenges that gave way to tremendous achievements from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries. The Libraries are extraordinarily proud of our staff and the ingenuity and perseverance they displayed, finding solutions to ensure faculty, students, and researchers had the tools they needed to continue their academic endeavors. We are also grateful to a special group of library supporters who remained steadfast in the face of pandemic adversity: the Friends of the UW-Madison Libraries.

This dedicated group of volunteers recognized the strain placed on the University – and the Libraries – over the last year. They pushed forward, providing exceptional virtual events, highlighting scholarly research in our Libraries, and supplying funding to address special project support. They did this despite having to cancel three consecutive book sales, their primary fundraiser. So on #GivingTuesday, we invite you to support the Libraries by making a gift to the Friends and amplifying this opportunity to give on your social media.

We are especially pleased to announce that Friends Board member Kenneth Frazier has agreed to match the first $2,500.00 committed to the Friends during #GivingTuesday. Your gift will be doubled, making it possible for the Friends to continue their work supporting our Libraries. You will also be the first to be informed of opportunities to attend inspiring public lectures, author visits, and thought-provoking discussions.

The Friends create a cherished connection between the campus and the wider community. On this upcoming #GivingTuesday, we hope you’ll consider helping us meet this matching gift challenge and support the important work of the Friends of the Libraries.
