New Faces at the Libraries: Elizabeth Lightfoot

February 4, 2021

The UW-Madison Libraries welcome our new Collections Strategist, Elizabeth Lightfoot!

Elizabeth began working in libraries in 1999 as a student library assistant in serials and reference at the University of Minnesota. Since then, she’s held positions in a few different functional areas at a variety of organizations. Most recently she was the e-Resources Librarian and Serials Coordinator at Florida International University in Miami, where she was responsible for all things e and discovery and where she led the Print Serials team.

She’s looking forward to putting all those pieces together in the Collections Strategist role. During her first month with the Libraries, Elizabeth has enjoyed meeting her colleagues, who, she says, have been incredibly welcoming and generous with their time.

On a warm weekend, Elizabeth likes to visit the farmers market, followed by an afternoon exploring Olbrich Botanical Gardens, and topped off with Ha Long Bay takeout at home with her husband and dog!

Four Fun Facts about Elizabeth:

  1. Favorite book: Pale Fire by Nabokov
  2. What she’s most looking forward to in Wisconsin: Cheese curds and exploring all the food trucks around Library Mall!
  3. Something surprising: Once upon a time I worked as a children’s librarian and used to have a mean story time game
  4. Favorite color: Green
