UW-Madison Libraries Streamline Interlibrary Loan Process

August 22, 2018

UW-Madison Libraries are pleased to announce changes to interlibrary loan services that will make the discovery-to-delivery process more efficient for UW-Madison students, faculty, and staff. Starting this fall, library users will see all of their physical item loans in one place: their library catalog account.

Beginning August 28th, all physical loans will appear in library patrons’ online catalog accounts. UW-Madison, UW System, and materials from other libraries provided through Uborrow and interlibrary loan will be listed together. This change will make it easier to manage borrowed items. Articles and book chapters will still appear in the user’s interlibrary loan account.

In addition, this system upgrade will streamline the request process for users. When borrowers place a request in the library catalog that cannot be filled by a campus copy or a UW System copy, the request will automatically be routed to one of our Big Ten partners through interlibrary loan. This means fewer steps for patrons and quicker delivery of materials.
