Students, university partners, and community members are invited to join us on July 19 at 5:30 pm at Memorial Library for our next Holding History event.

At “Shakespeare Reimagined,” participants will be welcomed into the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Special Collections Library for a lively, hands-on, student-driven experience with about a dozen volumes including Robert “Fighting Bob” La Follette’s copy of Shakespeare’s plays, Rockwell Kent’s Shakespearean illustrations, and Shakespeare’s sourcebook, Holinshed’s Chronicles (1577). The interactive portion of the program will be followed by a short talk by English professor Joshua Calhoun on how Shakespeare read–and how his work has been read since his death 400 years ago.

RSVP to sarah.marty@wisc.edu as space is limited. Event check-in will start at 5:15 pm at The Memorial Library with the event starting at 5:30 pm. On the day of the event, enter via the main Memorial Library entrance and you’ll be directed to Special Collections.
