Jail Library Group Anniversary Celebration

November 8, 2012
Jail Library Group celebrates twenty years.

The Jail Library Group, a student organization through the School of Library & Information Studies (SLIS) at UW-Madison, celebrates twenty years of a partnership with the Dane County Jail and Dane County Library Service to make educational, recreational and community resource reading materials available to local inmates.

Here’s a note from JLG on how you can help commemorate this occasion:

“Join us for Putting Books Behind Bars Since 1992: A reception to celebrate our on-going collaboration to provide educational, recreational and community resource reading materials to the residents of the jail facilities in Dane County.

Tuesday, November 13th
7 PM – 8:30PM (words at 7:30PM)
Helen C. White Hall, SLIS Commons, Room 4207

The Jail Library Group has served inmates as a partnership with the Dane County Jail, Dane County Library Service, and the countless UW students and community members who have volunteered over the years.

Come to meet and mingle with volunteers, past and present. Enjoy some cake, punch and coffee. Learn how and why we do what we do and how you might get involved.”
