Interview with library staff artist Angie Hoffman

August 29, 2012

Today we have the pleasure of speaking with library staff member Angie Hoffman about her artwork, which was displayed as part of the Library Staff Art Exhibit in Memorial Library this summer.

What is your position with the Libraries? I’m the Human Resources Assistant which entails Payroll & Benefits coordination and also student hiring.

Necklace by Angie Hoffman.

What pieces are you displaying in the art exhibit? I’m displaying a bracelet made with pearlized seed beads in different shades of blue and gray.  I’m also displaying a necklace made with black and clear crystals and sterling silver.

How long have you done this type of artwork, and how did you get interested in it? When I worked at the Department of Revenue, a coworker of mine created her own jewelry. I loved her pieces and asked her to give me a lesson. We would make jewelry together on our lunch hours. That was about 10 years ago!

Any upcoming projects in the works? I’m always making something! I like to match up my jewelry with my clothing. I’m currently working on a necklace that is made with rose quartz in different shapes and sizes. I also like to make pieces to give away as gifts to friends and family.
