Open Book Collection

The Open Book Collection exists to meet your extracurricular reading, viewing, and gaming interests. Find browsable sections such as Fiction, Hobbies, Graphic Novels, Entertainment, and more. The collection is located in Room 1250, on the east side of the first floor of College Library, adjacent to The Open Book Café.

Board Games

College Library recently expanded its selection of board games that can either be played in the library or checked out for 14 days. Popular titles such as Apples to Apples, Exploding Kittens, The Settlers of Catan (and various expansion packs), Mental Floss, and Twilight Struggle make up some of the over 100 titles available.

Books

In keeping with the informal nature of the Open Book Collection, books are usually purchased in paperback editions. Topics include, but are not limited to sports, hobbies and crafts, cooking and gardening, travel, science fiction, mysteries, graphic novels and popular fiction.

Magazines

College Library maintains a general selection of popular magazines in the Open Book Collection. There are currently over sixty titles all available to browse, such as: Bicycling, CosmopolitanCurveThrasher, and Mother Jones. Popular magazines that complement College Library’s special Ethnic Studies Collection are also available in Open Book.

The library retains the current and previous month’s issues. Magazines cannot be checked out, however, the collection is available for reading enjoyment anywhere inside the library.

Video Games

College Library collects video games for Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. There are nearly 300 games in our collection, including Spider-Man 2, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Stardew Valley, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and many more. Games are available in the Open Book collection on the first floor and may be checked out for two weeks. College Library also circulates game consoles through the computer lab.
