Welcome to Campus & College Library!
College Library would like to extend a warm welcome to both new and returning students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Established in 1971 and named after Helen Constance White (a former English department faculty member and chair from 1936-1965), College Library currently serves as a focal point for undergraduate library services on campus. Ensuring that students at the university have access to course materials, appropriate databases, and collections that serve both their research and holistic needs (including board games, popular fiction, graphic novels, video games, tools, and more), is a key mission for those who work at the library. Led by Kelli Hughes, Director of Undergraduate Library Services, staff strive to provide quality service in a space that is open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. When asked about the upcoming semester, Kelli replied, “”We are looking forward to another great year serving undergraduate students and the wider campus community! Stop by College Library with any and all questions – from navigating library research to discovering inspiring study spaces (with the best views on campus) to referrals to experts and support services across campus.”
For returning students, be sure to check the College Library website for updated hours for the semester, as some weekend evening and morning hours have shifted over the summer. While on that topic, College Library will be open Labor Day weekend on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., but closed for the holiday on Monday. The library reopens at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2. For more details, please see our hours page.
