Delaney Returns!

July 31, 2023

On July 19th, Delaney O’Reilly Reynolds joined College Library staff as the new GLS Public Services Library Assistant. Delaney’s one-year position will carry them to public service desks in libraries around campus, including Memorial Library and AMP (the library for Astronomy, Mathematics, and Physics).

Some may recall Delaney as an outstanding student assistant at College Library’s circulation desk. They worked at the library for nearly two years while pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Having graduated in May 2023, Delaney is taking a year to consider career options. They may decide to pursue a degree in library science. If so, this position affords an excellent introduction to a variety of public service environments.

When asked what they are looking forward to most, Delaney replied, “I am really looking forward to meeting the needs and expectations of patrons at these locations and learning how each of these libraries function.” In addition to helping patrons, Delaney is excited to gain supervisory experience and hopes to glean insights into the profession from a number of permanent staff. They are confident that honing such skills will serve them well in any future career.

When not in the library, Delaney enjoys crocheting, reality television (particularly The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), the downtown farmers’ market and spending time with their rescue cat, Funnel Cake, a four-year-old gray tabby with a big personality. Don’t be surprised if you encounter Delaney at a variety of campus libraries, but know how pleased everyone is that they consider College Library their “home.”
