Finals Week Events

May 2, 2018

College Library has a long tradition of providing stress-relief activities during the last few weeks of the semester. Since the library is open 24/7 beginning April 30, it seems a great opportunity to focus on the superhero within. There’s a lot to accomplish between now and graduation and the library can help! In addition to coloring pages featuring some of our favorite superheroes (the Avengers, Black Panther, Beyoncé), there will be puzzles, white board quotes, and our favorite heroes, the canines of Dogs on Call.

Among the events planned are:

Free (Plain) Coffee, Tea or Hot Chocolate · Friday, May 4, from 7 pm to 12:30 am
Open Book Café and the Wisconsin Union once again provide free hot beverages for students getting a head-start on Study Day.

GUTS Study Day · Saturday, May 5, from 11 am to 6 pm
Tutors from the Greater University Tutoring Service will be on hand (along with free food – doughnuts or pizzas – for those receiving help) in the 1st floor center of the library. Get some last minute study advice before exams begin.

Healthy Snacks from UHS · Monday, May 7, while supplies last
Look for a variety of healthy treats (nuts, fruit, granola, and more) courtesy of University Health Services at all of the library’s info desks and ensure you’re powering your brain with nutritious energy.

Dogs on Call · Tuesday, May 8, from 4 pm to 6 pm
Stop by for a little canine therapy with some of our favorite members of Dogs on Call. They will be stationed around the courtyard (weather permitting) and the first floor of the library. Puppy cuddles = stress relief!

Button-Making at the Library · Wednesday, May 9, while supplies last
Visitors will be able to make a 1″ button with supplies provided by the library. Design your own or choose one of our preprinted options featuring Marvel characters or our own superheroes – Bucky Badger and Helen C. White.

Another pilot that may reduce stress for patrons, is the newly launched option to reserve a study table in the library’s WisCEL space, Room 3250. From 6 p.m. on Friday, May 4, until Thursday, May 10, at 6 a.m., a member of a study group can now make an online reservation for tables 15, 16, 17, 18 or 19. (As always, reservations are limited to 4 hours per group, per table.) To reserve a table or study room, please go to: go.wisc.edu/StudyRooms

College Library would like to thank its many campus partners for providing this valuable help and stress relief during finals. All we can say is “Go Badgers!”
