May the Finals Be With You
Although there haven’t been any holograms pleading “You’re our only hope, Helen C.” – we here at College Library like to think we help students resist the lure of the dark side during the stress of finals. To that end, the library and its campus partners are bringing a little Star Wars-themed fun into an otherwise anxiety-filled week of exams with the following schedule of events:
Wednesday, December 16: “In my experience there is no such thing as luck.” From 11am to 7pm on Study Day, GUTS tutors are available to help with all your last-minute tutoring needs. Coffee, doughnuts, and later in the day, pizza, will be available for those seeking help. 1st Floor Student Services Area. Or, take a study break with Star Wars-themed coloring pages. 1st Floor Center.
Thursday, December 17: “Stay on target” with free regular coffee, tea or hot chocolate from 7pm to 2am at the Open Book Cafe’, courtesy of the Wisconsin Union. Also, test your Star Wars trivia knowledge with a “Quote Off” on the large white board in 1st Floor Center.
Friday, December 18: “The Dogs will be with you, always.” What’s cuter than an Ewok? Enjoy a library visit from the therapy canines of Dogs on Call. Re-connect with the childhood joy of playing with puppies from 4-6 pm today. Courtyard and 1st Floor Center.
Saturday, December 19: “I find your lack of studying disturbing.” Defy Darth Vader at our Star Wars Selfie Station. Using props and a Death Star back-drop, insert yourself into the Star Wars experience with a selfie or send friends and family a link to our webcam and share the fun. Post photos with the hashtag: #FinalsAwaken
Sunday, December 20: “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” What better way to defy the Empire than to show your allegiance with a custom button? From favorite characters to Star Wars insignia – or your own design – there will be free button-making available all day in 1st Floor Center.
Monday, December 21: “Your snack determines your reality.” Keep your energy up and avoid looking like a scruffy nerf-herder with free food courtesy of UHS. These healthy treats (granola, nuts, raisins and fruit) will help you face Boba Fett (or your professor’s cumulative exam). 1st Floor Center.
Tuesday, December 22: “Never tell me the odds.” Wield the power of the light saber with Kinect Star Wars, available to play on the large monitor in 1st Floor Center.
