Stay Healthy & Study Strong this Finals!
Building on our partnership to offer healthier food options during finals, College Library has expanded its partnership with University Health Services (UHS) for the Fall 2014 semester. Together we encourage everyone who stops by the library to have a #healthyfinals and to #studystrong – in mind and body. Along with our other campus partners, College Library offers strategies for coping (and staying well) during this stressful period. We are pleased to offer the following schedule of events:
Thursday, Dec. 11: Start final exams in the right frame of mind with words of encouragement from Badger SPILL. Volunteers from this anonymous peer-to-peer support network made of and for UW-Madison students will be on hand to explain their services and offer free water bottles & stress balls. 6-11pm, 1st Floor Center.
Friday, Dec. 12: College Library and UHS want to know how you plan to “Stay Healthy” during finals. You can tweet (@college_library / @UHS_Madison) your plan for a #healthyfinals or write it on the large white board. As a reward, help yourself to free snacks provided by UHS – bananas, tangerines, nuts, granola, etc. – beginning at 11am. 1st Floor Center.
Continue to celebrate the last day of classes with “Caffeine Therapy” – in moderation of course – at the Open Book Cafe’! Get free regular coffee, tea or hot chocolate, courtesy of the Wisconsin Union, from 7pm to 2am. Room 1250.
Saturday, Dec. 13: “Study Consults” from 10 am until 10 pm on study day when GUTS tutors are available to help with all your last-minute tutoring needs. Free coffee and treats for those receiving assistance. Sponsored by ASM and the Division of Student Life. 1st Floor Student Services Area.
Also, whimsical ‘healthy winter’ coloring pages will be available for students hoping to indulge in a little “Art Therapy.” 1st Floor Student Center.
Sunday, Dec. 14: Enjoy the benefits of exercise to relieve stress and ensure a healthy finals with an “Action Break.” Jump ropes, hula hoops, and Just Dance will be on hand to keep your body moving and your mind focused. 1st Floor Center.
Monday, Dec. 15: Sharpen your cognitive skills with LEGOs and puzzles on “Mental Acuity Monday” – 1st Floor Center.
Tuesday, Dec. 16: No more striving to better ourselves with physical or mental exercise, today we revert back to the primal with a big dose of dog. Be on hand for a library visit from the therapy canines of Dogs on Call. 4-6 pm. Courtyard and 1st Floor Center. Tweet a photo of your pet to @college_library or with the hashtage #studystrongpets and we’ll feature it on the big screen.
Wednesday, Dec. 17: Work out your frustrations with the gratifying ka-thunk of our button-maker. Experience the profound satisfaction of making something creative with your own hands and “Button Up” today.
As always, check College Library’s Facebook page, Twitter feed, and Instagram account for the latest info on our finals events.
