Welcome Kazakh Students

June 12, 2014

College Library is pleased to participate in an orientation for 60 students from Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan. The students, 30 from the university’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and 30 from the School of Science and Technology, are enrolled in the 8-week summer session beginning on June 16. Since familiarity with the libraries and information literacy are vital to their success, the students will participate in a tour and orientation session at College Library and also participate in one or more library sessions specific to one of their classes.

The Humanities and Social Science students will all be taking Poli Sci 401: Selected Topics in Political Science (Global Governance) and working with staff at Memorial Library, while the Science and Technology students are enrolled in Geoscience 376: Physical and Historical Geology and will meet with librarians from Steenbock, Wendt, and the Geology Library. All students are required to take one of these classes but have the option to take another course from any that are offered during the summer session.

We’re looking forward to working with these visitors to campus and all of the other students enrolled during the summer semester.
