Accessing the Space

The Chemistry Information Commons is located within the North Tower of the Chemistry Building. The easiest way to access the space is to enter the Chemistry Building on the corner of University Ave. and Mills St. Take the stairs or elevators up to the second floor. Elevators are located on the south wall of the building. The Chemistry Information Commons is room 2430, which will be west of the elevators on the second floor.

Parking & Transportation

There is limited street parking on Mills St. in front of the Chemistry Building North Tower. The closest parking ramp is in Grainger Hall, two blocks east of Chemistry. For all accessible public parking information and locations on campus, see the campus accessible parking stall list and map.

Madison Metro Bus routes stop on University Ave. at Mills St. and on W Johnson St. at Mills St.

Emergency / Evacuation Procedures

  • If you cannot self-evacuate for any reason, dial 9-1-1 and state your location. UWPD dispatchers will relay this information to responding personnel.
  • Do not use the elevator in fire emergencies.
  • In case of severe storms, seek shelter in interior spaces away from windows.

Interior Space Accessibility

Reservable Study Rooms and Spaces

  • Rooms 2430G and 2430H can be reserved online. These rooms are located inside the Chemistry Information Commons on the south wall. They hold a maximum of 10 people.
  • Room 2430F is only reservable by members of the Chemistry Dept

Restrooms

Four single-stall gender-neutral restrooms are located outside the Chemistry Information Commons. When exiting the Commons, continue east down the hallway, passing the four elevators, until you reach the restrooms.

Technology

There are 4 computers available for UW-Madison students, staff, and faculty. These machines have the following software; follow the Accessibility icon on desktop to access settings and software:

  • On-Screen Keyboard
  • Screen Magnifier
  • Narrator (will require using wired earbuds/ear-phones)
  • Color Contrast
