Search Tips

Tips for ABI/INFORM Complete: In the Advanced Search area, enter your product name in the search box and then select Product Name from the “Search In” drop-down menu to find articles, reports and more about your product. Or, in the Search options area, select Advertisement in the Document type list to find ads featuring your product.

To add additional ProQuest databases to your search, such as The Vogue Archive (contains print advertisements):

  1. Click the link for “Searching: 1 database” at the top left of the page
  2. Select the databases you’d like to add to/remove from your search
  3. Click the yellow “Use selected databases” button

Tips for Business Source Complete: In the Search Options box, select the Product Review checkbox under the Document Type list. Or, use the Product Name search box.

To add additional EBSCO databases to your search, such as Academic Search Premier (non-business periodicals), Communications & Mass Media Complete (Advertising Age), MasterFILE Premier (Consumer ReportsBusiness Week), or Newspaper Source Plus (The New York Times):

  1. Click the link for “Choose Databases” next to the database title at the top of the page
  2. Click the link for “Select another EBSCO service”
  3. Click the link for “All EBSCOhost Databases” and select the databases you’d like to add to your search
  4. Click the yellow “Continue” button

ABI/INFORM Complete (ProQuest)
Full-text journals, dissertations, working papers, country profiles, industry reports from Business Monitor International and First Research (under the Browse tab), and key newspapers such as The Wall Street JournalFinancial Times, and The Economist. Covers a wide range of business topics including accounting, finance, management, marketing and real estate. (Updated daily)

With global coverage in business and economics, the collection features thousands of full-text journals, dissertations, and working papers, as well as trade publications, market research reports, and key periodicals such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and Economist.

Scholarly, trade, and popular business publications covering all business disciplines. Includes market research reports, industry reports, country reports, company profiles and SWOT analyses. (Updated daily)

Annual compilation of reported market share data on companies, products and services.

Mintel Academic
In-depth reports from 2001-present that analyze market size and segmentation, consumer attitudes, and marketing strategies relative to hundreds of consumer products in the United States. Lifestyle reports such as “Green Marketing” and “Spending Habits of the Teen Consumer” are also available. (New reports issued monthly)

Simmons OneView (Simmons Research)
U.S. consumer data including demographics, psychographics, product usage, spending behavior and media habits. The data is compiled from the Simmons National Consumer Study of U.S. adults age 18 and older which is conducted each year. (Updated annually)
