Shown above and below are images from Mrs. Molesworth, The cuckoo clock (London: Macmillan & Co. Ltd., 1931), illustrated by drawings by Charles Edmund Brock (1870-1938), part of the collection of historical titles transferred to Special Collections from the Cooperative Children’s Book Center. Call number: CA 17220 no.849. This novel by Mary Louisa Molesworth (1839-1921) first appeared in 1877, also published by Macmillan but under the pen name Ennis Graham and featuring illustrations by Walter Crane. Among many later editions is one published in Philadelphia and London in 1914 with illustrations by Maria L. Kirk, available in the Information School Library Children’s Collection.
