Library By Appointment in Spring Semester
The Department of Special Collections will continue Library By Appointment for its reading room with appointments available Monday-Friday, 1-4 PM, beginning this, the first week of spring semester 2021. We hope you will make an appointment, request items from our collections to be used in our reading room, and head out to enjoy the winter weather of spring semester in Wisconsin.
The illustration above is from Helen Hunt Jackson’s A calendar of sonnets, published in Boston by Roberts Brothers (1891): we have a copy in the Cairns Collection of American Women Writers, and digital versions of copies from several other libraries are also available in HathiTrust. The illustration accompanies the sonnet for January, which exhorts the heart “to walk boldly on the white untrodden snows” — plenty of those in Madison today!
