I am fascinated by the impact of digital technology on culture and society. As Director of the Digital Scholarship Hub, I am especially interested in providing a campus space for advanced research with digital tools and methods but also for focused critical and humanistic engagement with digital technology, and I see these two approaches as inseparable.
I am also an Associate Professor of Digital Studies in the Department of Communication Arts where I research online platforms, extremist politics, and conspiracy theories.

More About Matt Hannah
Matthew N. Hannah earned his PhD from the Department of English at University of Oregon. He was an Andrew Mellon postdoc at the University of Iowa's Obermann Center for Advanced Studies from 2016-2018, where he worked on the Digital Bridges for Humanistic Inquiry project. He is currently an Associate Professor of Digital Studies in Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on digital humanities, online conspiracy theories, and (mis)information studies. In 2022, he was a Fulbright Specialist in Digital Humanities to Morocco.
