Impacts:  Any peer-reviewed, journal publications produced through the use of NOAA funding and intended for public or limited external distribution after October 1, 2015. Includes, 1) NOAA Professional Papers, 2) NOAA Atlases, 3) NOAA Technical Reports, and 4) NOAA Technical Memoranda.

Timeline:

• Papers submitted to the NOAA Institutional Repository before or immediately upon publication are considered compliant. Any papers submitted after the publication are non-compliant until sent to the NOAA Institutional Repository e-mail.
• Papers are considered compliant if submitted within 12 months of publication.

Who Submits:  NOAA authors and grantees.

Note: NOAA publishers or offices may submit on behalf of authors. Please check with your program officer to determine the best party to submit manuscripts to the NOAA Institutional Repository.

What to Submit:  Peer-reviewed manuscripts accepted for publication. Versions of record may be submitted if author holds copyright (e.g., open access) or has permission.

Format:  Wide range of formats acceptable

• NOAA Institutional Repository Submission Form (authors/awardees with NOAA email accounts only)
• Email: noaa.repository@noaa.gov (authors/awardees without NOAA email accounts)

Notes:

• Submissions not Section 508 compliant will be returned.
• Manuscripts deposited into PubMed Central (PMC) do not need to be submitted to the NOAA Institutional Repository to be compliant. The NOAA IR harvests all NOAA authored or funded materials from the PMC annually.
