The Friends of the UW-Madison Libraries: A History of the First Sixty Years was written by Christopher Kleinhenz, former president of the Friends and professor of French & Italian at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The book is a thoroughly researched compilation chronicling the history of the Friends organization on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus since its inception in 1948. The book includes archival images of former chancellors, Friends presidents, and other key figures in the Madison community. Kleinhenz discusses the establishment of the Friends, the challenges faced throughout the early years, and the successes of more recent years. The book also includes lists of all the presidents, members of the executive committee, and guest lecturers.
