Race, Sex, Power 2018 Conference, Roosevelt University, April 6-7

Race|Sex|Power 2018 comes at a crucial moment in the histories of sexuality and sexual wellbeing of people of color in the US and transnationally. This two-day working conference will focus on new interventions, reconsiderations, and critical reflections of scholarship, art, and action on race/sex/power. We must confront the violent resurgence of formidable challenges to the subjectivities and, indeed, lives of people of color on a number of fronts.

Race|Sex|Power 2018 presents an occasion to evidence the maturation, significance, and impacts of a generation of work on sexuality/race/power, while also expanding the scope to indigenous, Asian, and other communities of color in the US and transnationally. We seek to foster transdisciplinary, intersectional, postcolonial, and decolonial approaches and dialogues in order to take account of our histories and present conditions and promote on the ground action toward sustainable futures.
