Borrowing

Books and Annual Reports

Books and annual reports can be checked out at the Business Library Circulation Desk by anyone with a valid UW-Madison ID, UW System ID, or other borrowing card. These items may be returned to the Business Library or to any campus library dispalying an Open Return sticker on its book return.

Loan periods for UW-Madison faculty, staff, and students are:

  • Faculty, staff, and graduate students: Semester loan with 6 renewals
  • Undergraduate and special students: 28 days with 2 renewals

Reference Books, Journals, Audiovisual Materials

Reference books, journals, and most audiovisual materials cannot be checked out and must be used in the libraryRequesting

You can request books from any campus library and have them delivered to the library of your choice, or you can request electronic copies of journal articles not available online.

If you need an item that is already checked out, you can recall it from the current borrower.

  1. Find the item in the Library Catalog
  2. Click on Place Request
  3. Sign in with your NetID and password
  4. Click on Recall from Current Borrower
  5. Choose the Pickup Location and click on Recall
