The Business Library, located in the Business Learning Commons in Grainger Hall, is relocating its circulating print collections to Memorial Library and will no longer offer collection circulation services as of May 15, 2026. Laptop circulation and course reserves services will also no longer be available at the Business Library.
The Business Library will continue to offer instruction, reference and research services to Wisconsin School of Business students, faculty, and staff and the Business Learning Commons remains open, under the management of the School of Business.
Librarian services will continue to be provided by Michael Enyart and Peggy Smith and they will remain in their offices in the Business Learning Commons. A small non-circulating collection of Harvard Business Review publications will be available in the library for browsing. We will continue to invest in print and online collections that support the departments and disciplines of the School of Business. Please share your suggestions via our Request a Purchase form, or contact Michael Enyart directly.
After Friday, May 15, 2026, books in the Business Library print collection will not be available for checkout until they are processed for their new location in Memorial Library. Titles will temporarily be unavailable in the Library Catalog, but you can request titles of interest through interlibrary loan. Please use the Libraries ASK Services for assistance, or contact askbusiness@library.wisc.edu with questions about access to specific titles.
After May 6, you can no longer select the Business Library as a pickup location in the library catalog or when placing an ILL request. Alternative pickup and return locations near Grainger Hall include:
By May 22, please pick up any hold or interlibrary loan items that you have at the Business Library. You will be contacted to make arrangements to pick up any remaining items. Any remaining holds can be picked up at Memorial Library after May 22.
You can keep anything you already have checked out (other than equipment) until you are ready to return it or it can no longer be renewed. The Business Library bookdrop will remain open until end-of-day Friday, May 29. After that, the Business Library will no longer accept returns. Materials can be returned to any UW-Madison libraries that accept returns.
Michael Enyart and Peggy Smith will continue to support your research, teaching, and learning needs. Contact them for a research consultation, to arrange an information literacy instruction session, or if you have any questions about library services. The Business Library website will continue to offer a curated set of online resources and guides.
Services commonly used through the Libraries’ website, such as ASK Services or Research Support services, will remain the same. Library staff are dedicated to helping faculty, staff, and students with their research and scholarship. Please continue to reach out for collaboration and partnership around your work.
Please let us know how we can help you during this transition!
