Digital Preservation Repository

The development of a digital preservation repository is a critical step towards strengthening our capacity to preserve digital objects and artifacts, e.g. texts, images, recordings, electronic theses and dissertations, and ensuring that these research resources will remain accessible for future generations of scholars.

Supported in part by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, we are building the software that manages the bits and bytes of digital artifacts and associated metadata, ensures their long term integrity and retrieves copies in the event of local data loss, and implements the processes for reporting on the disposition of objects, assessing current preservation level and risk, managing format remediation, and ensuring ownership attribution and succession.
