Data Story Slam (Fri., Nov 30, @ noon)

November 12, 2018

Join us for lunch (pizza and cookies provided!) and listen to students and staff share stories about their data and research experiences on campus at the FREE Data Story Slam!

When: Friday, November 30 (noon-1:00 PM)
Where: BioCommons @ Steenbock Library
Who:  All students, faculty, and staff are invited
RSVP (appreciated but not required)https://goo.gl/forms/LadUExhXR67aZe4y1
*Please indicate any dietary restrictions on RSVP form linked above

What kind of stories might there be?

  • What was it like working in a research lab for the first time?
  • What was your eureka moment when analyzing data?
  • Has something ever gone horribly wrong with your data?

Will there be food provided?

Yes!  We will provide pizza and cookies.  Please fill out the short RSVP form so that we can order enough (and accommodate dietary restrictions)

Do you want to tell a story?

We are looking for storytellers (students encouraged!) to share a short (5 to 10 minute) story about their experiences with data–successes, failures, warnings, and more! The stories can be free-form, a slide presentation, a poem, or anything else. It’s up to you!

Story suggestions:

  • Tales from the lab
  • Data in the research workflow
  • Telling stories with data
  • Data success stories
  • Data horror stories

Sign up to share your story, (where you can also RSVP for the event). The sign-up form will close at 5:00 PM, Thursday, November 29, but a sign-up sheet will be available at the event as well.

Questions or accessibility needs?

Please contact me with any questions and/or requests.
