Chancellor Rebecca Blank and a review committee of campus faculty, staff and students have selected Dan Egan’s The Death and Life of the Great Lakes as the 2018-2019 shared book selection for the UW-Madison campus.
Dan Egan, journalist and water policy fellow with UW-Milwaukee’s School of Freshwater Sciences, examines the cultural and historical significance of the Great Lakes and their state of health—a catastrophe in the making. What can be done to restore and to protect this valuable, freshwater resource?
UW-Madison instructors interested in using the book in class can request review copies and copies for their students by contacting the Go Big Read office.
Go Big Read is UW-Madison’s common book program. Students, staff and community are invited to read the same book then participate in a variety of related programs in-and-out of the classroom. Go Big Read will welcome your participation with this new selection during the forthcoming academic year. Consult with campus and area public libraries for available copies.
