Patrons of Steenbock

February 10th, 2017

Patrons of Steenbock is inspired by Brandon Stanton’s Humans of New York. Our goal is to highlight the ways in which various patrons use our library and our services. If you are interested in being featured contact us at asksteenbock@library.wisc.edu.

Meet Thi!

Where are you from?

I was born in Vietnam but moved to the States when I was a toddler.

What do you study?

I study Horticulture and Environmental Studies – but I have a wide range of interests that include social justice, history, psychology, biology, etc.

How do you use Steenbock Library?

Steenbock is my favorite library…and favorite place to study in general. I always host study groups at this library, have my reserved books sent here, and just come to relax and decompress between classes. I use the first floor most often – the living green wall and BioCommons add comfort to this library that I haven’t really noticed in any other campus library. The staff is incredible and readily helpful. I love the puzzles and art pieces on the second floor and the board games on the first. Overall, Steenbock is such a great place to work. (I secretly like that it’s not too well known or used – it doesn’t become overcrowded or overwhelming). I also really like how Steenbock features really cool books/topics. I always get excited to be more exposed to the literature out there.

How can the libraries better serve you?

It would be the most amazing (and functional) thing if there were designated areas to nap…like a hammock room or something. I like the eating area but I would really appreciate better snack options.

What else would you like to say?

Seriously, the nap areas would be AMAZING.
