College Library offers resources to support the holistic student experience
You may know about UW-Madison Libraries’ plentiful research databases, our study carrels, and the ready-when-you-are Ask a Librarian service. But did you know that our libraries offer resources that extend beyond the page?

Ian Benton, User Experience Coordinator at College Library, spoke with The Daily Cardinal recently about some of the unexpected resources our libraries offer students, staff, and the community. In particular: video and board games and tools like sewing machines.
Benton emphasized the role UW Libraries plays in supporting the comprehensive and nuanced student journey on campus.
“The experience of being a college student is not just academics,” Benton told the newspaper. “We have a bunch of things that [influence] the complex existence of the average student and recreation is an important part of that. It ties into health, emotional wellbeing and just being able to have fun.”
Recently, College Library updated its video game holdings to include space for more Switch games and other console collections. The change is joined by an update to loan periods and the elimination of automatic renewals for video games.
