Update to Library Operations Following Campus Returning to Remote Instruction

Following the announcement from Chancellor Blank that the campus will move to all-remote instruction for the next two weeks, effective Thursday, September 10, we want to provide an update on what that means for library operations. 

All in-person study spaces, including those at University Libraries are closed. University Libraries will revert to operations similar to this past summer, supporting the research mission of the university. 

Effective Thursday, September 10, the following changes are in place:

The following in-person collections are accessible by appointment for faculty, staff, and graduate students:

  • AMP1 – 4 p.m. (M), 9 a.m. – Noon (Thu)
  • Art 1 – 4 p.m. (M-F) 
  • Business Bloomberg Terminal – 1 – 4 p.m. (M-F) 
  • Geology1 – 4 p.m. (M), 9 a.m. – Noon (Thu)
  • Memorial – 9 a.m. – Noon, 1 – 5 p.m. (M-F); 1 – 5 p.m. (Sat-Sun)
  • Mills1 – 5 p.m. (M-F)
  • Social Work 1 – 4 p.m. (M-F) 
  • Special Collections – 1 – 4 p.m. (M-F) 
  • Steenbock – 9 a.m. – Noon, 1 – 5 p.m. (M-F)
  • UW Archives – 1 – 4 p.m. (M-F) 
  • Wisconsin Historical Society Library and Archives – no changes to current hours at this time

Weekend Operations 

  • September 19 & 20
    • Memorial: 1 – 5 p.m. (Pickup by Appointment and Laptop Check out)
    • College: 1 – 5 p.m. (Walk up reserves only)
    • Steenbock: Closed

Course Reserves

  • College: 1 – 5 p.m. (Mon-Sun)
  • Steenbock: 9 a.m. – Noon, 1 – 5 p.m. (M-F)

Printing / Scanning

  • College: 1 – 5 p.m. (Mon-Sun)

Returns

  • Bring returns to Memorial, College, Steenbock

Laptop check out

  • Memorial: 9 a.m. – Noon, 1 – 5 p.m. (M-F); 1 – 5 p.m. (Sat-Sun)

Pickup by Appointment (Available to faculty, staff, graduate, and undergraduate students)

  • Memorial: 9 a.m. – Noon, 1 – 5 p.m. (M-F); 1 – 5 p.m. (Sat-Sun)
  • Steenbock: 9 a.m. – Noon, 1 – 5 p.m. (M-F)
