Libraries Hold 8th Annual Maureen Grant Memorial Blood Drive

February 10, 2019

The 8th Annual Maureen Grant Memorial Blood Drive will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 from 12:00 – 5:00 pm in 116 Memorial Library.

UW–Madison Librarians have honored the memory of longtime colleague, Maureen Grant, who was struck and killed by a bus in 2011, by holding a blood drive with the American Red Cross each year. Grant was a lifelong Red Cross blood donor who frequently donated at the Libraries’ blood drives and in her hometown of New Glarus, Wisconsin.

In the past, donors have given enough blood to save more than 200 lives.

There are several ways that you can participate in this year’s blood drive in memory of Maureen:

  • Volunteer to staff the drive. There are slots for registrars, blood donor aides, refreshment aides, and folks to help set-up and tear-down the Red Cross stations and supplies. Volunteer to sign-up here.
  • Donate. You can make a reservation to donate here or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (sponsor code: uwlibraries).

Please note: A blood donor card or drivers license, or two other forms of ID are required at check-in.
If you any questions about volunteering to staff this drive or if you have questions about donating, please contact Steve Frye.
