Wireless Printing

These are instructions specifically for connecting to the printer in the MEmorial Library Graduate Study Room (Room 464). There are other instructions for connecting to other Library printers.

Using Windows 7, 8, 10

  1. Ensure you are connected to the campus wireless network.
  2. Open Windows Explorer.

  3. In the address bar, enter \\libprint.library.wisc.edu and hit enter.
    Note: It is important to include the backslashes in front of the address.

  4. You will be prompted for a username and password. This is not your NetID. Use:
    Username: printuser
    Password: pr1nt.m3

    You may wish to have windows save the password if you’ll be printing again in the future.
  5. A list of printers should appear. Locate MEM_B&W_GRADSPACE. Right click on it and select Connect…

    The printer should begin installing. You may be prompted to install a printer driver. If so, click Install Driver.
  6. The printer should eventually finish installing. Make sure to select it when printing.

Mac OS 10.10 and above

  1. Ensure you are connected to the campus wireless network.
  2. Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences…
  3. Click on the Printers and Scanners button located in the Hardware section of System Preferences.
    Note: Printers and Scanners may be Print and Fax in older versions
  4. Click on the Plus Sign right under the list of printers to add a new printer.
    Note: you may need to click the lock in the lower left and enter your admin password to unlock the add printer button.
  5. Select the IP tab and configure the printer as follows:
    • Protocol: Line Printer Daemon – LPD
    • Address: libprint.library.wisc.edu
    • Queue: MEM_B&W_GRADSPACE
    • Name/Location: These only affect how the printer is displayed on your computer.
    • Print Using: Generic Postscript Printer is fine for most printing. If you want to use advanced features you’ll have to locate the specific driver for the printer.
  6. Your computer is now configured to print. If you did not set the printer as the default, make sure that you choose it when you print from an Application.
