Study Space by Appointment

Make an appointment to study in a Memorial Library study space that has been setup to support individual study in an environment that follows campus and CDC guidelines for physical distancing.

Appointments available

  • Appointments are limited to UW-Madison faculty, staff, and students.
  • Appointments are available Monday – Friday, 9 am – noon and 1 – 5 pm, although arrival times are staggered.
  • Please arrive promptly for your scheduled appointment time to help reduce congestion in the library entrance.
  • Morning appointments end at noon. Afternoon appointments end at 5:00 pm.

Services description

  • A variety of study spaces are available for reservation, including Room 116 (quiet), Room 126 (quiet), and the West Corridor.
  • Seating capacity is reduced significantly and chairs are arranged to ensure compliance with campus and CDC physical distancing guidelines. Please sit only in spaces that are marked as available for use.
  • Each person entering the library will need their own reservation.

How to schedule an appointment for a Memorial Library Study Space

  1. Select the appropriate study space.
  2. Review the service description before making a reservation.
  3. Select a date and time to enter the library.
  4. Answer all questions on the form.
  5. Submit your appointment.

You will receive an email message confirming your appointment that includes library specific information and instructions.

Please don’t come to the library without an appointment. We must ensure we are meeting physical distancing guidelines, and are working carefully to ensure scheduled times allow for minimal contact for all involved.

It is important to note that we will have limited staff available onsite so not all building services are supported. This appointment is for a study reservation only. This appointment does not provide access to Memorial’s collections. Ask a Librarian services are available to assist in planning your visit in advance. Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit to how long I can stay in the study space? expand_more

Although arrival times are staggered, you can stay until the end of the appointment time (noon or 5 pm) at which time the library will close to the public and you will have to leave.

Do I need to check out when I leave? expand_more

No. You can leave the library at any time, through any exit, but you do not need to check out.

When will other study spaces be opening? expand_more
