Small Group Study Space

Make an appointment for 2-3 people to share a table in a large study area, at tables large enough to provide appropriate physical distancing. Separate appointments are required for each individual in the group. 

Individuals looking to study alone should not use this reservation. Business, College, Memorial and Steenbock Libraries also have study spaces and 1-person study rooms available.

Service description

  • Individuals looking to study alone should not use this room or these reservations.
  • College 3250 is a large room with many tables, each set up for 2-3 people to study together while following appropriate 6′ physical distancing protocols. Please sit only in spaces that are marked as available for use.
  • Talking is allowed in this space. This is not intended to be a quiet space.
  • Each individual needs to make their own appointment and groups do not need to arrive together.
  • After individuals check in to their appointment, they may then choose a table to share in room 3250. The tables themselves are not reserved.

Appointment details

  • Appointments are limited to UW-Madison faculty, staff, and students.
  • Small group study appointments are available only for Room 3250 at College Library.
  • Arrival times are staggered. Please arrive promptly for your scheduled appointment time to help reduce congestion in the library entrance.
  • Appointments have set ending times. Please leave the library at or before the appointment end time.

Due to the high demand for this service, it is important to cancel appointments that you won’t be using. To cancel, login to https://appointment.library.wisc.edu and your appointments will be listed on the right.

How to schedule an appointment for a small group study space

  1. Review the service description before making a reservation.
  2. Select a date and time to enter the library.
  3. Answer all questions on the form.
  4. Submit your appointment.

You will receive an email message confirming your appointment that includes library specific information and instructions.

Please don’t come to the library without an appointment. We must ensure we are meeting physical distancing guidelines, and are working carefully to ensure scheduled times allow for minimal contact for all involved.

It is important to note that we will have limited staff available onsite so not all building services are supported. This appointment is for a study reservation only. This appointment does not provide access to library collections. Ask a Librarian services are available to assist in planning your visit in advance. Although arrival times are staggered, you can stay up to the end of your appointment time.

No. You can leave the library at any time but you do not need to check out.
