Interns Needed for Milwaukee State Representative LaKeshia Myers
Position Description: Milwaukee State Representative LaKeshia Myers is seeking high school, undergraduate, graduate and professional student interns to work at the State Capitol for a minimum of 8 hours per week during the fall. These high energy internships are unpaid but will provide valuable skills in political communications and a helpful insight into state government. This is a fast-paced office with a great deal of opportunity to gain real experience in policy-making, handling judicial casework and building community relationships.
Our office will offer interns the ability to work on many different issues and take the lead on tasks that interest them most. If you care about economic development, education, and criminal justice reform, then this is the internship for you. An interest in a career in politics, or public policy welcomed but not required.
Beginning in January 2019, Representative LaKeshia Myers became one of two African American women serving in the Wisconsin State Assembly.
Qualifications: Applicants should be well-organized and detail-oriented, as well as exhibit critical reading and writing skills. Applicants must be capable of demonstrating strong communication skills and have a willingness to learn on the job. Ability to work well independently and with the team is a must.
