Equipment Checkout – Fall 2020

At this time, only laptops are available for checkout from the libraries.

Laptops are available for two-week check out at Memorial Library. These are available on a walk-up basis, although you may want to call or check online first to ensure that inventory is available.

Loan period

Laptops checked out will have a two-week loan period. Renewals are possible if inventory allows. Loans longer than two weeks are available from the DoIT Help Desk at rentals@doit.wisc.edu.

Frequently asked questions

Are other types of equipment (cameras, audio recorders, etc) available for check out? expand_more

At this time we are only able to check out laptops. We expect to start offering other equipment soon.

How do I return equipment to the library? expand_more

When returning equipment, please return it to the location you checked it out from. Please do not return equipment (laptops, cameras, headphones, etc.) via the book returns.

Can I install software on the laptop? expand_more

Yes, you will have full rights to make changes to the laptops, including installing software.

What happens to the personal information on the hard drive when I return the laptop? expand_more

Your personal information is removed from the laptop. All laptop hard drives are completely wiped and reimaged before being returned to the loaner pool.

What are you doing about COVID-19 protection with the equipment? expand_more

All equipment is quarantined for at least 7 days when they are returned.
