Equipment Checkout – Update August 2021

Libraries are circulating laptops and AV equipment to be used in support of research, learning, and instruction.

Equipment is available for one-week check out on a walk-up basis, although you may want to call or check online first to ensure that inventory is available.

Laptops available at College Library, Memorial Library, and Steenbock Library

Hours of operation

Equipment checkout hours at College, Memorial, and Steenbock matches their building hours.

Loan period

Equipment checked out will have a one-week loan period. Renewals are possible if inventory allows. Student laptop loans longer than one week are available from the DoIT Help Desk at rentals@doit.wisc.edu.

Availability of equipment

To check the availability of some equipment, please visit the Equipment Checkout System page although you may want to also call first to ensure that inventory is available.

How do I return equipment to the library? expand_more

When returning equipment, please return it to the location you checked it out from. Please do not return equipment via the book returns.

Can I install software on the laptop? expand_more

Yes, you will have full rights to make changes to the laptops, including installing software.

What happens to the personal information on the laptop when I return it? expand_more

Your personal information is removed from the laptop. All laptop hard drives are completely wiped and reimaged before being returned to the loaner pool.
