Badger Badge and the Libraries

In order to maximize our safety efforts across campus, Badger Wellness Ambassadors or other staff will ask to see your Badger Badge as you enter campus buildings. A green Badger Badge will be required in order to gain entry. Read more about the campus program here.

Impact on Library Services

Individuals are required to show their Badger Badge with a green “Building Access Granted” status before getting access to library buildings or in-person library services.

The only exception to this will be for individuals with Pickup by Appointment reservations. Campus and community patrons with a Pickup by Appointment reservation will be allowed to briefly enter the appropriate library to pick up their materials, and then they must immediately leave the building.

Most in-person library services also require an appointment, although reserves, equipment checkout, and item return do not require an appointment.

Note that in addition to having a green status in their Badger Badge, library patrons for any other in-person library service will need to properly wear a face mask or face covering and follow social distancing protocols.

If, for health reasons, you are unable to access our libraries physically, or unable to wear a face covering, please contact the Libraries’ Health Ambassador and ADA Accessibility Liaison, Todd Michelson-Ambelang,, 608-262-3475, Mondays – Fridays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. so we can arrange for equitable access to our collections.
